Wallowa Lake is a stunning example of a glacially formed lake, flanked by two lateral moraines east and west and a terminal moraine at the north end. The lake is approximately 3 ½ miles long, about ¾ of a mile wide and about 300 feet deep. The lake boasts several records for the largest Kokanee caught in the state, with the most recent record captured in 2009. That record didn’t last long… a Pendleton Oregon man landed a 9.67 lb fish in June of 2010, breaking the world record previously held in British Columbia.
